Mission Trip - 2010 - Tanzania    (article from Trinity Tidings, Sept 2010)

What did Trinity’s Missionaries do in Tanzania?

It is very challenging to put an experience like the Tanzania trip into words.  Please take some time to talk with Trinity’s Tanzania missionaries when you get the chance.  Each person had a unique experience and gained insights that they would love to share with you, our church family!

THE FACTSPeace House Projects: 

1.  Library
  • Painted shelves
  • Organized books
  • 2.  Computer Lab
  • Taught basic computer skills such as “cutting & pasting”
            • Introduced power point procedures to older students
  • 3. Dormitory curtains
  • Cut, painted, and threaded rods
  • Attached rods to concrete walls
  • 4.  Biology Lab
  • Organized and labeled materials
  • 5.  Garden Tanzania Mission Trip
  • Harvested greens and sweet potatoes

  • Planted onions and carrots
  • Built shade for seedling beds

    Elerai Lutheran Church:
    Tanzania Mission Trip
  • Cleaned church with confirmation kids and elders
  • Built house for a widow
  • Shared meals
  • Entertained by musical performances
  • Overnight home stays
  • Sunday morning worship
  • Selian Lutheran Hospital:

    1. Met Mark Jacobson the CEO of the hospital
    2. Had very thorough tour of the most high-tech hospital in Tanzania

    Heifer International:

    1. Attended thorough presentation of how Heifer helps those in need (making less than $1/day)
    2. Learned how Heifer projects are overseen by churches, especially Lutheran churches
    Makumira University:
    1. Visited with ELCA missionaries Randall and Carol Stubbs in the music department
    2. Ate lunch at university
    3. Watched music performances
