Vaale Cemetery, Brainerd, Crow Wing County

Vaale Cemetery Vaale Cemetery was deeded to Trinity in 1968.  It is well cared for by the Vaale Advisory Team of Fred Casey, Chairman, Ernest Aarrestad, Robert Knudson and Donald Sandberg, who oversee the mowing and up-keep of the grounds.
The cemetery is over an acre in size, divided into four blocks with a total of 850 plots with some still available for purchase for $250. That cost is up slightly from the 75 cents charged for the first ones.
Vaale Cemetery is located southeast of Brainerd, on County Road 24, near Upper South Long Lake.  A well, a new fence, tarred roads and a small storage building – a replica of the first church – have been added in recent years. Vaale Cemetery map

Scattering Garden at Trinity

The Scattering Garden where ashes may be interred following cremation, was given by Orvis Twombly, and was constructed in 2004 on the  south side of the church building. Scttering Garden at Trinity
Scattering Garden at Trinity Lutheran Church A large stone cross stands at the center and names and dates are inscribed on paving tiles. A bench, inscribed, ”Dedicated in loving memory of Betty Twombly” is an invitation for visitors to linger awhile. The idea first started when Betty expressed her wish to have her ashes scattered among the shrubs and flowers she had helped to establish on the Trinity grounds.

Much of the landscaping has been donated curtesy of Roger and Marie Landsburg and John and Tina Landsburg.
